New Media Producer Internship
Min. Time Commitment: 10 - 20 hrs/week (negotiable)

GLP is looking for students or recent graduates in film/video or related fields to take part in a rapidly growing project to build an interactive video library of humanl ife experience. The New Media Producer will manage production and post-production of new media content for the Global Lives Project by working with staff, partner organizations and collaborating filmmakers around the world to support outreach efforts, remote exhibitions and remixing of GLP content. There will be a high degree of integration between the website and video work. Must have experience working with Final Cut Pro. Basic HTML knowledge is preferred.
Internships require a commitment of a minimum of 150 hours, which is about 10 hours/week for 15 weeks or 20 hours/week for 8 weeks for summer internships. Interns will work at Global Lives' San Francisco office, or remotely. Interns will meet once weekly in person or by phone/video with coordinator. Groups of 2-3 students are welcome to apply together for each internship project.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in Final Cut Studio or equivalent
- Knowledge of video compression
- Knowledge in, or ability to learn about web video technologies
- Ability to work unsupervised, shows significant levels of strategic initiative
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Good communication skills
- Ability to meet critical deadlines
- Identification with mission and vision of the project
Work Arrangements
- All projects are suitable for teams of 2-3 or more interns if preferred.
- GLP is open to receiving full-time and/or part-time students.
- Participants may need to supply their own computers.
- Regular email reports will be expected from interns documenting progress.
- Depending on current projects, some remote work is possible away from our San Francisco office. At minimum, weekly meetings with interns will take place in San Francisco, with exception of video/teleconference meetings due to intermittent travel.
