How to upload to our SFTP Site
Uploading video or photos to our SFTP site is quite easy. It just requires downloading a fairly simple piece of software called an FTP client, entering in the information below, and then dragging and dropping your files (photos or video) to the appropriate folder.
Recommended FTP Clients:
CyberDuck (Mac)
WinSCP (Windows)
Other clients may also work, but they need to have SFTP capability, not just normal FTP, and you also need to make sure you've selected this option. If you have a suggestion, please edit here.
Login info:
SFTP: gldropbox@artifex.org
Password: ******** Call David Harris at (510) 847-6767 or skype deharris (Sorry, our web hosts don't like us to put pws online)
Port: 22
Then drop all your photos or videos into the appropriate folders.
Files are then accessible through any web browser at: http://globallives.org/files/dropbox/
Notes on file naming and captions:
- Please also upload a text file with the captions and file names of each photo or video, and please rename the files with the name of your subject and a number, i.e., "edith01.jpg," or "edith_tape01.mov," etc. Make sure to use 01, 02, 03, etc. so that the file orders come out right when we sort.
- If you shot in photos in RAW, please also upload the original RAW files of these photos and make sure that filenames correspond to the jpgs.
- Please make sure that the file names of the compressed videos and the exact video length correspond to the uncompressed video files on the hard disk that you will be submitting. This is important because when we transfer the subititles or if we make edits based on the compressed files, it will be much easier to simply swap in the full-quality versions.
